Alternative Drug & Alcohol Counseling
At ADAC, we understand that addiction and substance use are ongoing and complex processes. Our holistic approach to treatment is compassionate, professional, and objective, with a focus on meeting every client’s individual needs.
ADAC has developed a comprehensive drug and alcohol program that provides quality care and supportive services to individuals, families, and significant others seeking to better understand substance use disorders and their impact on themselves or loved ones.
PERSONALIZED CARE
REAL UNDERSTANDING
LASING RECOVERY
Every person coming through the door is treated as an individual with individual needs. Not everyone has the same patterns, concerns, viewpoints, or ideas.
The primary goal of treatment is to obtain long-term abstinence and recovery. While individuals may enter treatment with different perspectives and goals, sustained sobriety is an important foundation for lasting success and improved well-being.

WHAT WE OFFER
We provide compassionate, individualized care for addiction and substance use-grounded in a holistic approach that supports emotional, mental, physical, and social wellness.
We meet individuals and families where they are, offering respectful, nonjudgmental support focused on abstinence, whole person care, and lasting recovery.

EVALUATIONS
Evaluation sessions generally last between 60–90 minutes. During the appointment, clients will be asked questions and complete self-reports related to substance use and addiction history. Additional factors, including legal, medical, and family background, are also reviewed. A thorough and accurate evaluation depends on the client’s honesty and willingness to openly discuss this information.
At ADAC, our philosophy is centered on recognizing each individual as a unique person with their own experiences and circumstances. No two situations are exactly alike, and every client brings a different understanding and perspective to their journey. We respect these differences and are committed to providing compassionate, individualized support for every person we serve.
The State of Maryland COMAR regulations however, do identify certain criteria that indicates there may be a problem:
-
Subsequent offenses
-
History of other substance related charges
-
Inpatient treatment or other outpatient treatment history for substance abuse
These criteria are recognized by court systems and all state licensed substance abuse programs. However, it is still at the discretion of a qualified substance abuse counselor to make the final determination.
RESULTS
Length of treatment is based on severity of needs and ASAM (American Society of Addictions Medicine) level of care. 26 weeks/6 months is identified in MD State COMAR regulations.
The State of Maryland identifies 12 hour of education as a suggestion for 1st time DUI offenders.
